The Turkey Platter

V: For the last several years, the Gernes family has taken Thanksgiving on the road. Each year, we have been in a different city: New York, Milwaukee, Ann Arbor, South Bend, Minneapolis... you get the idea. Somewhere along the way we picked up an uninvited thanksgiving guest...
the turkey platter.

This colorful little stray joined the family somewhere around Milwaukee (I believe it was a gift from Megan's grandmother?) and has been with us ever since. He snuck into the Maynor's trunk for the ride back to Ann Arbor, showed up in the mail in South Bend, and has basically been shadowing our thanksgivings for years.

Cut to present day: Tom and I are here in Florida, getting settled in and minding our own business and no sooner than the condos were booked for thanksgiving when guess who showed up at our door:

Sneaky little bugger. He was traveling with a note from Megan Maynor:

It is on indeed. We can't wait to celebrate Thanksgiving with all of our guests! Especially the ones we invited! xo

  1. Yessssssss!

What makes it even better is that my Grandma won the platter at bingo in Vegas.

I am so glad the tradition lives on!

  2. I certainly hope you are displaying the Sacred Platter with prominence in your your house. Possibly on a pedestal with some track lighting?
